And breathe… I’m hoping that filing this pre-season tour diary is the most taxing thing I will have to do today after a hectic time so far in Benidorm.
Wednesday was always going to be manic with a 6:25am flight and a game in the evening, but Thursday caught me off guard. I wasn’t the only person who turned up to yesterday’s friendly with Levante expecting a non-event.
Instead, we got two brawls, four red cards, three goals and a first defeat of this pre-season campaign for Wolves.
In truth, the Levante game turned into one Wolves probably could have done without, but it will be important in the long run for those fringe players who won’t feature prominently in the two showpiece friendlies out here.

You would think that Wolves’ players will probably have it easy too, with this being their only day without a game in a week, but Bruno Lage doesn’t do ‘easy’ in pre-season. While the players were given this morning off, Lage will work them this evening in preparation for tomorrow’s friendly.
Nathan Collins is also up for interview for the first time since he completed a £20.5m move to Wolves from Burnley. The Irish centre-back started his first game for the club against Levante yesterday and is likely to feature in the match with Besiktas tomorrow.
We’re expecting a second wave of Wolves fans to arrive in Alicante today ahead of the Besiktas clash. Benidorm will be heaving with Wolves supporters this weekend.
Finally, I wanted to end this diary with a heartwarming moment from yesterday’s ‘Battle of Benidorm’. Amidst all the animosity, Toti Gomes showed his support for stricken star Chiquinho during his goal celebration.
Toti – who also played with Chiquinho at Portuguese club Estoril – made a “C” gesture with his hand after heading home against Levante. Poor Chiquinho faces a long road to recovery, but he has the support of everyone associated with Wolves.
